During the last couple of weeks, we have been working with some 5th graders. In the lab, we have learned the basics of photography and videography. The students were able to practice what they learned.

Computer Lab Reflection!
Over the past three weeks, in computer lab we have learned the pressure of being on camera and expressing our ideas on video. Another topic we found interesting was editing the photos and cropping them. We think that out of all that we’ve learned from lab, we can improve our skills and techniques with a camera and desktop. With this information we can teach other people what we have learned and also we can become better from our mistakes. Something we can remember is how we learned to cooperate with one another, and agree on one main photo. One thing that wasn’t useful was how some people were taking photos of us and making it harder for everyone to focus. Something that was helpful on the camera was the view button, because it let us overlook our recent photos. Something that we could work on to improve would be how we take our photos and what the point of the snapshot would be. In art we are looking forward to learning as much knowledge as we learned in lab. Something that will help us later on would be the right way to hold a camera, and how to take videos and snapshots. Also we are excited to learn facts about famous artists and photographers. Overall this was a great experience for the both of us!

`Technology Reflection

In technology we learned a lot of interesting things. One thing we learned is how to use a camera. We learned that there are many different features of the camera. Also we got to take pictures and videos of the school. When we took pictures we noticed that it is easier to take a picture when you’re not moving around. It is better to use video when you want to show someone a story or a movie. When were outside of school we could use this lesson to help us take pictures and video. When we got to take pictures and videos around the school we took them of all the specials. Getting a chance to walk around the school and take pictures and videos was very helpful to my learning ability. We also got to download our pictures on the computer and listen to our videos. First you plug in your camera to the computer and turn your camera to the viewing mode. Next you upload the videos and pictures onto the computer. Finally you can view them. You can also make changes to your pictures. What we learned from this project is how to use a camera.
In library, we took picture with the camera to discover how to use the camera. In our first week we took pictures of the school and downloaded them on the computer and played around with them.
In our 2 week we took video of the school to learn how to zoom in and out. I took a video of the people who taking videos of together all around the school. In our 3 and final week we learned a faster way to put our on Microsoft word. We learned a lot about cameras and taking videos.
In library, we learned to use cameras in all possible ways. In week 1, we learned to take photographs using a digital cameras. We took pictures using a specific theme that we chose and used the whole school except for the portables. We also learned to download pictures and crop them. This means to put the pictures on the computer and shorten them or change the colors, shade, angle, or view.
In week 2, we used video on a digital camera. We learned to use the video setting using themes. We learned how to go around to different spots in the school and when and how to stop and start video. We had an option to give a video tour of our school or something specific about the school. We also learned to save and download video.
In week 3, we had a choice. We had an option to take video or shoot photos. Every photo should have had something to do with one another. We used our theme and took our pics or video and saved them using “camera wizard.” We saved them to LIBTECH where everyone in BOLA could see our work. We were able to see what others did when we finished.
The main idea of this project was to see how we could use a camera in a creative way. There were some rules to follow but we were able to have fun with what to work on as well. We learned that cameras are very useful and there are a few ways to use them. We are still unsure about how to operate certain buttons, switches, and knobs on the digital camera. We wonder if we could do this with a video camera. We hope that the art people enjoy this activity.
As a learner, we learned that when you’re working on a project its ok to take your time. Its going to help us beacuse now we know what to do when we get stuck or confused , because that camera was confusing sometimes while switching modes. Also, we learned that technology isn’t always easy, neither is learning, most things in life are hard and you have to work at it. Also, I think that others will also learn a lot.
The cameras have to be turned on and plugged in to look at the pictures learned that the cameras have to be in different modes to take pictures, videos. All cameras have different ways to work. We had to have a story behind our videos and pictures. We also chopped and pictures with pictures and videos. Some of us did a tour of our school with pictures and videos. We blogged about questions in a text that Mrs.Goldsteind showed us.
Reflection 11/1/10

In the weeks I have been in technology we have been learning about cameras and how they work. The first day we were just playing with the cameras and how they worked so I went around the school taking pictures of random stuff zooming in and out. Then we came back to the library and cropped are favorite picture, on the computer cropping is when you cut out what you don’t want of the picture and then you have what you want of the picture and you can print only the good part.
Next technology class we played around with video and then I showed a tour around the school and later after that I watched the video and see how shaky my hands were and how good or bad I did at explaining it. Last class I had to get a topic of something and me and my partner did bout the flag. First we took pictures of the flag pole and other stuff, then we did a video and see how it went. I really enjoyed technology and I learned stuff about cameras and video.
I learned to use cameras correctly and videos correctly and now I can use cameras without always asking questions on how to upload photos. Now I also know to help other people who need help. I could use video to help record things for learning and messages if I can’t be there.
